Music & Politics. Episode #5: WHO DAT.

New Orleans was among the first parts of the United States to develop a strong African-American artistic culture leading to the invention of jazz in the early 1900s. Jazz may have been born in NOLA at the turn of the century, but by the 1950s, the music of choice in New Orleans was rhythm & blues.
In this trip to NOLA we can find what the status of the NEW ORLEAS funk is. Always second line with a bit of old school drumming and that’s it.
This selection is dedicated to the beloved memory of Mr John “Mac” Rebennack Jr, aka DR JOHN who left us such a great heritage of music and culture .
