Music & Politics. Episode #13. LAIDBACK, NO PLAYBACK

Theme: Nowadays music is a joke. Artists are not used to embrace their instruments or shout out loud their voices anymore. It’s all controlled by an industry where the use of overproduction and fake tracks in music mirrors the mad society we live in today. Lucky us, it’s not all like that, in this episode of Music & Politics we travel to discover live session jams and recordings.
All the tracks are recorded as you hear them. No nasty use of over dubs or backing tracks, just groove and soul to let our minds and bodies follow the flow.
M Base Steve Coleman and soundcheck Prince recording give us an idea on how music can make the difference if you just let human nature do the job.

We close this trip to the groove land with one of the most sweet and slow groove ever, Where Are We Now a remarkable version of David Bowie original composition by Ian Shaw.

On this 4th episode of Music & Politics, we let women voices guide us through different era and different needs, from Dusty Springfield to Flora Cash and Liz McComb we pay a tribute to the most beautiful gift a woman can give us, from the struggle to respect to the pink-punk revolution, we travel hand to hand with the sweet lyrics of love, war, pain and hope only women of all kind can express. W le Donne was a motto in the feminist protest in Italy during the 70s. And, unfortunately, we still need to use this motto as a lot still needs to be changed.

The Funk Revolution in the Rock Culture

‘Funk is something that’s still around, it just smells a little bit different. Funk hasn’t received the critical attention that rock, jazz, and the blues have-until now. Funk music is a vibrant history-the history of a uniquely American music born out of tradition and community, filled with energy, attitude, anger, hope, and an irrepressible spirit.
Funk music in Europe arrived as an softened version of disco music losing its power and its social strength.
From Bernard Wright to The Bamboos and Blindosbarra we explore all the different era and times of this incredible music style.
We keep the funk alive, and the mind will follow.’
