L’Esprit Baroque

The first episode of a new Sunday programme in the ‘baroque ghost’ is dedicated to Gustav Leonhardt, who passed away on 16 January this year. In Memoriam Gustav Leonhardt (1928-2012).

Besides being a harpsichordist, Gustav Leonhardt was also an organ player, a conductor and a musicologist. In this new programme, we hear one of the first Dutch pioneers of early music on harpsichord and organ, and we also hear him conduct Bach cantatas.
Similar to how the early music movement began with Gustav Leonhardt in the Netherlands, our new programme with baroque music begins by honouring this recently deceased pioneer.
Here is an In Memoriam Gustav Leonhardt by Jolande van der Klis of the Early Music organisation.
