Producer and host Thijs Bonger continues his search through the life and works of Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837). Today Part X.
Continuation of the search by program maker/presentor Thijs Bonger through the extensive oeuvre of Johann Nepomuk Hummel, who lived from 1778 to 1837. Around 1810 Hummel was busy working as the court composer of Prince Esterhazy. But he was still working on the side as pianist/composer. Part X of ‘A Second Chance for Hummel’ starts with one of his then famous solo pieces for piano, ‘La bella capricciosa’. And as a true student of Mozart he also composed operas. He wrote fifteen of them in total. Only one of them, ‘Mathilde von Guise’, was released on CD. We will listen to a selection from this CD. Original, well written and brilliantly orchestrated music.
All works are by Hummel.
