En Blanc et Noir – pianist Noël Lee plays the black and white keys. A five-part mini series, compiled by Evert Jan Nagtegaal. Noël Lee as part of an ensemble, as a composer, solo pianist and song pianist. Part 5: Introduction

Noël Lee was a productive artist with over 200 albums under his belt, 14 of which received the Grand Prix du Disque. His body of work includes all piano sonatas by Schubert, the complete sonatas by Beethoven, all piano works by Debussy and Ravel, and numerous works by Ives, Bartók, Stravinksy, Copland, Elliott Carter and more.

He dedicated several albums entirely to music for four hands and works for two pianos, working with Christian Ivaldi and Jeff Cohen and some albums with piano-violin duos with Gérard Poulet. And then there is the staggering amount of recordings of Noël Lee working with singers.

Compiler Evert Jan Nagtegaal himself has had the priviliege of singing on two albums with Noël Lee on the keys, but there are mostly many recordings with François Le Roux, Bernard Kruysen, Udo Reinemann and Anne Marie Rodde which are still at beautiful as ever.
