A musical serial. Episode 26: Carnatic rhythms and strings

Carnatic music is a style of Indian music that is related to Hindustani classical music. The most notable property of the Carnatic style is the complex use of rhythm.

Australian guitarist Toby Wren travelled to India to be taught is this tradition. Afterwards, he gathered some guest musicians and recorded The Carnatic Jazz Experiment.

Mingled with music from this album, we play a Hindustani raga (though based on a Carnatic one) performed by Rahul Sharma on Santoor.
