Hummel revisited

 Part XXVII

In search of the life and work of Mozart’s student Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) programme maker Thijs Bonger encountered themes by Hummel that later on are knowingly or unknowingly used by other composers. We wil hear Hummels last piano sonata, Chopin’s favourite and Hummels only cello sonata, a piece enriching both instruments, and a selection, including Hummel’s, of works send in to Anton Diabelli, composer and music publisher, who asked fifty composers to write a variation an a short wals he provided.
