The history of twentieth century opera. 1976B.

A lot of things happened in 1976. The Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in The Hague, was won by the ‘Brotherhood of Man’ with the song: ‘Save your kisses for me’. And Enio Morricone topped the charts with his ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’. There were many fine classical music premiers as well, such as: Mi-parti by Witold Lutosławski and Boris Tsjaikovski’s String Quartet No. 6. In the land of opera modernism took off. Philip Glass released his first, minimalist, opera which definitively cemented his name in the world of opera.
