1990: a new decade which is at the same time this century’s last decade begins. There are many new, often special and slightly quirky productions, but in 1990 nobody was really surprised anymore by all those new models and techniques used in the world of opera. USA representatives Philip Glass and John Cage released a new production and opera will always have Hans Werner Henze and Einojuhani Rautavaara who had no less than 2 new operas premiered in this year.
