The Palace of Nostalgia

sat 18 apr 2020 20:00 hour

Jazz, blues and nostalgia, by Sjaak Roodenburg.

A touch of France in The Palace, including ‘An American songbird in Paris’, Jane Morgan, and Bourvil, Yves Duteil and the super melancholic song ‘Melancolie’ by Tony Murena and his Ensemble.

Furthermore, a minister’s daughter from Idaho with bedroom eyes who could start a song as a baritone, then switch to a bass voice and end it as a soprano: the inimitable Lee Morse, who paired a phenomenal talent with unsatiable dipsomania, resulting in: Drama!

From the legendary tv special ‘Tribute to Rodgers & Hammerstein’, we play a song from ‘Carousel’ performed by Jan Clayton and John Raitt.

Followed by Frank Sinatra with one of his favourite expressions: ‘Ring-a-ding ding!’, Fay Claassen doing her Chet Baker project, a beautiful love song from the war years by Eddy Christiani and a passionate tribute to Rio by the Argentinian tango musician Osvaldo Pugliese and his orchestra.

Of course, we will not forget to pay ample attention to the death of Louis van Dijk (featuring Toots Thielemans, Elly Ameling, Philippe Elan).
