The String Quartet

Vincent d’Indy was a central figure in French music. D’Indy has turned out to be a worthy successor of Franck in his music.

D’Indy’s String Quartet No. 2 was dedicated to Joseph-Guy Ropartz. In turn, Ropartz dedicated his String Quartet No. 2 to Paul Dukas, who highly praised d’Indy’s work. And just like d’Indy’s, Ropartz’s quartet is based on a motto and developed from that seed.
