Radio Romantica has a Spanish feel today, full of love and naughty glances. You can listen to a sunny and swinging recital by Maria Bayo. She is accompanied by one of the great specialists in the field of song accompaniment: Malcolm Martineau. Together they perform a fascinating programme of Catalan songs by Eduardo Toldrá, who was born in 1895, and by Jesús Guridi, who passed away in 1961.
In between, you can expect Tonadillas by Granados and the Mélodies Populaires Grecques by Ravel. These two composers were from an earlier generation. As an encore you will hear the delightful Azulão, the blue bird, a Brazilian song by Jaime Ovalle. Before, you can listen to the stately Pavane pour un infante défunte, written by Ravel and performed by Louis Lortie.
