A podcast about Jazz with colorful guests and swinging music by Ben van den Dungen; Rembrand Ferichs part 1

Rembrandt Frerichs is a Dutch pianist and composer known for his innovative approach of jazz and classical music. His musical journey began in Cairo (1995-1997), where he explored different musical traditions and sound worlds. In 2001, he had his debut on the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague. This was followed by tours with the European Jazz Youth Orchestra and Hermeto Pascoal in Brazil and Europe (2002), and a period of study in New York thanks to a scholarship for outstanding young musicians (2003).
Frerichs collaborates with superstars of Middle Eastern music and has completely reinvented his own sound world. Western classical musicians and ensembles in search of innovation embrace his new compositions and the challenge of improvisation.
His discography includes the album ‘Piano Concertos Nos 1 & 2’, in which he collaborates with musicians of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. In these compositions he combines improvisation  with classical music, drawing on the original performance practice of great masters such as Mozart and Beethoven, who also improvised during their concerts.
In this podcast, Ben talks to Rembrandt about his classical compositions, his music and the music from the Middle East as a source of inspiration.
