Old and new works, all for cello and piano.
Today in Unheard, we focus on the charming CD Pas de Deux, released on the German NEOS label, featuring the Austrian cellist Valerie Fritz and the German pianist Nina Gurol. The album brings together old and new repertoire: from Claude Debussy to contemporary music by the German composer York Höller, who, with his own ‘Gestalt composition’, finds an elegant balance between tonality and atonality. Also included is the sonata for cello and piano by the British composer Rebecca Clarke. Together this makes for a CD full of musical dialogues between styles and eras.
