Arab Street Rap – Sudan
We’ll listen in this houralmost non-stop to a selection of rap and hip-hop, mainly from Sudan.
The Sudanese rap scene has grown enormously over the past years. By the end of the last decade, it became the artistic form of expression and the voice for the younger generation, as well as an important part of the protest movement.
Since the outbreak of the war in 2023, the collapse of many state structures, and the displacement of millions of Sudanese people, Sudanese rap within the diaspora has further evolved into a space where collective identity and memories are preserved and shared.
We’ll explore a diverse range of tracks, many of which reached a wider audience via social media, such as the street-rap platform Rap Share3.
