Egypt: Female voices from a Golden age – Episode 6

For more of previous episodes check here

This episode is dedicated to the female singers that flourished during the golden age of the Egyptian film and music industry, between 1930 and 1970.

There were many very succesful female voices, that nonetheless are not always so well-known, like Aïsha Hassan and Fayda Kamel, or voices that are nearly forgotten like the multitalented Nadra. The most popular voices (and actrices) are featured as well, like Leila Mourad.

Caïro was the heart of the entire Arabic entertainment world, the place where Nadjah Salam and Warda, singers from two different generations (both not born in Egypte) had great success and where they enjoyed the high point of their careers.
