Chronicle of Dutch Music in the 20th and 21st Centuries, Episode 10: Julius Röntgen.

French Impressionism, German Romanticism and the characteristic sound of Italian bel canto—many countries have their own musical language, giving rise to a distinctive stylistic identity. An expert can even tell the difference between Northern German Baroque and French Baroque. But what about the Netherlands? Is there such a thing as ‘Dutch’ style, and if so, what does it sound like? In Chronicle of Dutch Music in the 20th and 21st Centuries, we set out to explore Dutch musical identity.
