New albums with music by Steve Reich, Beat Furrer and André Previn.
Steve Reich (pictured) celebrates his 90th birthday this month. To mark the occasion, Harmonia Mundi recently released a double CD featuring highly acclaimed recordings made by Ensemble Signal under the direction of Brad Lubman more than 10 years ago.
The Trio Accanto consists of an unusual combination of instruments: saxophone, piano and percussion. Their latest CD, Out in the Open, has just been released on the Wergo label, featuring four compositions written specifically for the trio.
The final CD in this episode, titled American Tunes #1, features violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter performing works by André Previn and Sebastian Currier.
