Gone Too Soon: Hans Rott.

This is the fifth installment in a series featuring music by composers who died young, titled ‘Gone Too Soon’.

This episode is dedicated to Austrian composer Hans Rott, born in Vienna in 1858. Bruckner and Mahler were impressed with his talent, but Johannes Brahms was not too keen on his compositions. Rott suffered from extreme paranoia and depression, and died of tuberculosis in in a psychiatric institution in 1884. He was only 25 years old.
