Paul Lacombe (1837-1927)
In today’s broadcast, you will hear works by the unknown French composer Paul Lacombe. He was born in the fortified town of Carcassonne in 1837, and almost 90 years later, he died in the same city. Although his music was undoubtedly appreciated by fellow composers such as Georges Bizet and Camille Saint-Saëns, he never really became well known.
Until recently, there were also almost no recordings of his music, but in 2021 and 2022, the British label Dutton Epoch released two albums of his chamber music works.
