Episode 1000! Today we broadcast live from Utrecht, with live performances and a live audience.
We celebrate an enormous milestone: after nearly 9 years we have reached the 1000th episode of Bach Ad Infinitum! Our first episode was broadcast on 5 November 2012.
In this programme, every working day between 1 and 2 PM, you can listen to music by Johann Sebastian Bach himself, as well as music by his uncles, sons, teachers and apprentices, and his followers. Since the start in 2012 distant relative Govert Jan Bach and his team, all of them volunteers, have made 1000 episodes.
The first nearly 500 episodes were recorded by former journalist Joop van Zijlen. Govert Jan started presenting the episode himself, after Joop van Zijlen left.
During the anniversary broadcast, an hour-long programme of music by Bach will be performed by friends of the show and upcoming artists. With performances by cellist Joachim Eijlander and Canadian mezzo-soprano Georgia Burashko; the rest of the line-up remains a surprise.
This anniversary broadcast will be celebrated with a live broadcast from Podium Oost in Utrecht, where listeners are also welcome.
