A programme about Gregorian chant. Episode 141: Hymns from Algeria

In Bonum est episode 141 we will listen to Hymns in the tradition of Constantine.
Constantine the Great not only named Constantinople, but also Constantine, a beautiful town in Algeria (see picture).
For over 2000 years this city was a centre of Jewish culture. For over a 1000 years this culture lived peacefully next to the Islamic culture.
The Jewish songs of Constantine are saturated with the Arabic Andalusian style of northern Africa.
