This edition of the Chronicle of Dutch Music explores the life and music of Gerhard Hamm, a composer, violinist and pianist who was an influential figure in Venlo’s musical life in the late nineteenth century. In a fortunate twist of fate, pianist Camiel Boomsma was handed a collection of scores by Hamm, whose music had long since been forgotten. He was immediately impressed by the quality, warmth and subtlety of the works. This programme features his interpretations of Hamm’s piano compositions.
