In this episode, we continue our conversation with recorder player, Baroque oboist, teacher, improviser and composer Robert de Bree. Robert teaches historical improvisation, including at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, as well as at numerous other venues around the world. He has also been researching the so-called partimento for monophonic instruments — and he will explain exactly what that means later in the episode.
Robert performs fully improvised music at concerts and festivals around the world, including with the Scroll Ensemble, which he co-founded. And the fact that the music is improvised is not always immediately apparent to the audience…
