Sufi songs from Istanbul: Halil Necipoglu. Recorded at the Tropeninstituut on 8 December 2007.
Halil Necipoglu became quite popular in Istanbul since he started leading the Kiliç Ali Pasa Mosque of Tophane, and he has manifested himself as great solo expresser of gazel songs.
His unique voice and intense delivery were noted by famous ney player Kudsi Erguner with whom he worked together in the Muezzins of Istanbul programme.
This top singer is accompanied by a edifying classical ensemble.
