Tonight in Concertzender Live you will hear Priya Purushothaman, she performed at the Anna Yoga centre in Arnhem on 13 April 2014.
Priya Purushothaman is one of the new international Hindu singers that are breaking through. She lives and works in Bangalore where she studied with Aditi Kaikini Upadhya. She has the privilege to perform the gurukul style and her schooling was intensified by the guidance of Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, a master of this style. Priya has published his meetings with him in her book Living Music: Conversations with Pandit Dinkar Kaikini, released by Popular Prakashan in 2011. Before she studied Hindu Raagsangit, she got a thorough study in Carnatic vocal music as western classical violin.
She is accompanied on tabla by Aditya Srnivasan during this concert.
He is one of the young upcoming tabla players of Chennai, India. He began his studies with Shri Tajesh Dhavle at the age of 7. By now he has studied with famous masters and acknowledged musicians. He is also active in the film and theatre world.
