Andrew Ford (1957) is one of the most leading composers of Australia. As well as 30 compositions he has written books about contemporary music and he his host of different radio programmes about classical music.

Icarus’ story is well-known: his father Daedalus made wings for himself and his son. They go out and fly together, but Icarus, overconfident, goes too high and the wax of his wings melt. He sadly falls into the sea. Ford uses this information for a series compositions between 1984-1999.
