Wolfgang Mitterer is a much sought-after composer of operas, concerts, film music and theatre music. The pleasure he derives from experimentation leads him to combine contrasting elements in the creation of unpredictable musical experiences. On this programme, one of his recent recordings: Temp Tracks. Thirty-seven short pieces with sequential names from ‘temp’ to ‘tonight’. When enjoyed in sequence, Temp Tracks resembles a bizarre 55-minute experimental film composed of 37 disparate but related scenes that propel us through an alternation of tense and calm moments.
