Today we pay attention to a new and remarkable CD from the world of early music. Under the title ‘Passacaille de Mr. Couperin’, Bob van Asperen plays ‘Pièces de clavecin’ by Louis Couperin.

This ‘Passacaille de Mr. Couperin’ is part 2 of the Louis Couperin series Bob van Asperen is recording. In this series, he plays an original French harpsichord by Vaudry (Paris, 1681), to be found in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, where the recordings also take place.

– Prelude 4 – Tombeau de Mr. Blancrocher 21 (F. Dufault, arr.: B. van Asperen) – Sarabande 97 – Chaconne ou Passacaille 96.
4. from Suite in C major:
– Courante 17 – Sarabande 20 and 21.
5. Suite in A minor:
– Prelude 7 – Allemande 100 – Courante 103 – Courante 104 – Sarabande 107 – Sarabande 110 – Gavotte de Mr. Hardel / Double de la Gavotte par Mr. Couperin (J. Hardel, arr.: B. van Asperen).
6. Suite in D minor:
Prelude 2 (G. Pinel, arr.: B. van Asperen) – Allemande Blancrocher (C. Fleury, Sieur de Blancrocher, arr.: B. van Asperen) – Courante 41 – Sarabande 50 – Sarabande 56 – Gigue (C. of E. Richard).
