Verdelot’s madrigals. Together with Costanzo Festa, Adrian Willaert and Jacob Arcadelt, Philippe Verdelot belonged to the first generation of Italian composers who were on par with French-Flemish composers. Verdelot wrote spiritual as well as worldly music. Today, the focus is on his worldly music in the form of his madrigals.
