Earwitness #100. All in memory of you. The history of Russian music in the 20th century.

After the world war, a new wave of antisemitism hit Russia. Its low-point, and according to some what started the genocide, was the murder of Solomón Michoels in Minsk on 13 January 1948, supposedly ordered by Stalin. The actor and artistic leader of the Moscow Jewish State Theatre was during the war president of the Jewish Antifascist Committee and therefore went on a successful mission of gathering funds for the American Jewish community. He was also Stalins interlocutor for planning a Jewish Sovjet republic.
