Dave Brubeck (1920-2012) was pianist and composer. With alto saxophonist Paul Desmond in his quartet, he was well-known in the world of jazz music, also due to Desmonds world hit ‘Take Five’. Recordings of this quartet are from the years 1953-1959. But Dave Brubeck was also a praiseworthy composer, he studied under the French composer Darius Milhaud. His ‘Nocturnes’ for piano are performed by John Salmon.
