A meditation on contemporary music.

Today Kairos starts of quite ‘poppy’. But ‘poppy’ doesn’t mean ‘easy’. In fact, the song ‘disintegration loop’ by Moon Moon Moon is inspired by the work of William Basinski bearing the same name. Definitely not light music.
The regular Kairos listener will know, especially after the last episode, that ‘a meditation on contemporary music’ doesn’t mean ‘consuming only easily digestible music.’ Meditation means to research oneself. This takes determination.
The music of Kairos is visual music. It’s worth the effort of letting the hour of Kairos wash over you and see which images, emotions and associations this musical journey awakes inside you, even the unpleasant ones. The trick of those images, associations and emotions is, to not engage, but experience them neutrally, yet curiously. They come and go. And no matter how intense the music gets, you can always find a calmer undercurrent to calm yourself.

And, as we often do in this programme, we have hidden a little Easter egg for the careful listener. This time it’s the deep musings of a well-known someone.
