A meditation on contemporary music. For Anu van Leeuwen.

Sometimes, the shell is so thin you can see through it. On June 25th 2017, friend and colleague Anu van Leeuwen began the journey back to where he came from, and where he always wanted to be. We walked together a while before and we will be doing it again, but for now it is impossible. Ah well, the shell is thin and grows thinner. Maybe we can pierce it and make a spyhole in it, but we don’t know what will happen then. Maybe something will break, so we won’t do that. We will wait until it’s time to walk together again. To play music and take people to the water. I’m looking forward to it.

This episode of Kairos is for you, Anu. Goodbye!

We will play music from the latest CD by Roman Turovsky. He is also far away, but yet close by. An unexpected surprise from New York, packed in blister padding and brown paper. It is wonderful again! Furthermore, three tracks from the CD Kavkasia by Minco Eggersman. Music so expressive that film becomes surplus. And a track from the album ‘Once in a Long, Long While’ by Low Roar. You will be hearing more from them! Also music from some regular guests of Kairos.

Together they tell this month’s story, without words but with images, your own images and maybe some understandable words after all: Do Jesse Mc Cormack and Mark Lohmann have the answers to the questions and doubts of Ryan Karazija? Or isn’t it that simple? Even without the words a beautiful story is told: your own story.
