Great music from all corners of Africa, that is the theme of today’s Mariama broadcast. Compiler of this show is Peter de Koning, reviewer at Muziekweb in his everyday life. He reviews hundreds of CDs every year, and this show collects the African songs that have left the biggest impressions on him in the past year. Most of the music in this broadcast is recent, but not all of it is new. A number of tracks in this ‘Mariama’ were released as far back as the seventies, but were also released on CD recently. You can be sure to expect a varied show. From the happy afro pop by SMOD to the forgotten Zambian rocker RIkki Ililonga and the hypnotizing trance by Rango: all the corners of the continent are explored.
