This hour features a new, special CD with early music. The double CD ‘Handel – The Triumph of Time & Truth’ by Ludus Baroque led by Richard Neville-Towle.

A CD with a rarely heard and executed piece by Georg Friedrich Händel: “The Triumph of Time and Truth”. Executed by the Scottish ensemble Ludus Baroque led by Richard Neville-Towle.

1. The Triumph of Time and Truth: from the First Act:    
– Chorus: Time is supreme
– Recitative: (Beauty): How happy could I linger here 
– Air (Beauty): Faithful mirror
– Recitative: (Pleasure and Beauty): Fear Not! I, Pleasure swear.
– Air (Pleasure): Pensive Sorrow    
– Air (Beauty): Sorrow darkens ev’ry feature
– Air and Chorus: Come, Come and live with pleasure
2. The Triumph of Time and Truth: the beginning of the second act:    
– Chorus: Pleasure submits to pain
– Recitative (Pleasure and Beauty): Here pleasure keeps his splendid court
– Chorus: O, how great the glory
3. The Triumph of Time and Truth: fragment of the second act:    
– Air: (Counsel): Mortals think that Time is sleeping
– Recitative: (Time): You hoped to call in vain
– Air (Time): False destructive ways of pleasure
4. The Triumph of Time and Truth: end of the third act
– Air: (Pleasure): Like clouds, stormy winds them impelling
– Recitative (Beauty): She’s gone; and Truth descending
– Air (Beauty): Guardians angels
