Pianist Frank van Bommel (1962) is certainly an odd one out in the Dutch world of jazz; it is hard to describe what he is like. The “As If 3” trio is a barrel filled with contrasts, in which bass player Raoul van der Weide’s and drummer Wim Janssen’s beats were successfully combined with the pianist’s grand ideas.
