In this episode, the second part of our two-part special on This Heat. The reason for this special, is the concert This Heat will give on 2 April at the Rewire festival, called This Is Not This Heat. After 40 years, this influential band will reinterpret its own music.
This Heat was founded in 1976 by Charles Bullen, Gareth Williams and Charles Hayward. The band’s sound is hard to categorise, as it’s a mix of Ambient tape loops, poly-rhythmic percussion, pulses of noise and recalcitrant dubs. All this is interlaced with avant-rock. During their six-year run, they released three albums: This Heat, Deceit and Health Efficiency.
In this second part of This Heat, the album Repeat is the main focus.
