Panorama De Leeuw

thu 5 nov 2015 17:00 hrs

Episode XIII, November 4, 2015 – Satie in the supermarket.
Thea Derks makes a chronicle of Dutch musical life according to biograpy Reinbert de Leeuw, mens of melodie.

In the previous episodes we saw how Reinbert de Leeuw got hooked on the French composer Erik Satie, whose spirit was sweeping through the Netherlands for several years. Reinbert attracted attention with his ultra slow performances of this early piano music, for example during the dance performances of Koert Stuyf and Ellen Edinoff.
During the seventies Reinbert de Leeuw made several LPs that all rose to the top of the hit charts. The recordings even became so popular that they could be heard everywhere, from the hairdressers to the supermarket.
De Leeuw is touring through the Netherlads this season with beloved piano pieces by Satie. In this episode the quirky Frenchman is central.
