Music for Holy Week by French composers from the 16th century.
In this program, first some anonymous settings of the Lamentations of Jeremiah, published in a collection of music for Holy Week by Pierre Attaingnant in 1534, will be heard. Next, some works by Dominique Phinot will be featured, who probably worked in Lyon for some time and also spent a few years in Italy. Finally, music by Jacquet van Mantua will be presented. He was born in Vitré, France and worked most of his life in Mantua, eventually as the chapel master of the cathedral there.
