Makossa, the popular urban music movement, originally from Cameroon, became a worldwide phenomenon in the 70’s through the ‘Soul Makossa’ by Manu Dibango, and has found his way back to the bins of trendy record shops. This goes for great re-releases like those of the label Analog Africa (“Pop Makossa; The Invasive Dance Beat of Cameroon 1976-1984” ) and for new interpretations by Chico Mann & Captain Planet, Jungle Fire and Lord Echo.

DJ Bertú plays Global Beats without limits. He gets inspiration and grooves from vast jungles, far away deserts, cities with their urban beats and jams from around the corner. Ever since the early 1980s, he has been obsessed with African rhythms and funk, and nothing can stop him from listening to music from all over the world and creating his sets based on what he’s picked up. DJ Bertú performed at many venues, clubs and festivals, including the Lowlands festival and Oerol festival.
