The Art of the Improvisers

In December of 1963, the English percussionist and orchestra leader Fat John Cox (Bristol, 1933) received an invitation from the Pye Studios in London to record a demo with his sextet. Those recordings weren’t supposed to promote Fat John’s sextet, but they were supposed to test the studio’s new equipment. For fifty-five years those recordings had been gathering dust in one of the members’ archives, but in 2019, Turtle Records released the double CD ‘Honesty’ with songs from that recording session.
