The guitar from the previous century#XXIV.

A monthly series on guitar music from the previous century, each episode will feature at least a guitar concert. In today’s episode: Brazilian music performed by brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad. One of the most prominent guitar duos in classical music.

Radamés Gnattali combines jazz with Brazilian rhythms and melodies. He played the guitar as well as the piano. One of the pieces he wrote was a sonate for cello and guitar: Brasiliana no.8. Sérgio Assad adapted this for two guitars.

Edino Krieger was much more influenced by the musical avant-garde. However, traces of Brazilian influences can still be heard in his compositions. You will hear music by Sérgio Assad himself. In addition to being a guitarist, he is also a very versatile composer.
