Polish minimal. In this Theme broadcast you will hear a couple of examples of Polish compositions in which elements from minimalism, folk music and postmodern avantgarde are fused together.

Minimalism is embedded in the Polish national character. In the upstirring, deeply melancholic folk music you’ll find repetitive elements every time. Music that also gives voice to the unapproachable beauty of unspoilt nature, like the admiration of many composers for the Tatra mountains.
In this Theme broadcast you will hear a couple of examples of Polish compositions in which elements from minimalism, folk music and postmodern avantgarde are fused together. With music by Wojciech Kilar, Zygmunt Krauze, Henryk Gorécki and the Polish minimalformation Ksiezyc (Moon). The legendary debut album by Ksiezyc from 1996 has recently been re-released. We will play the album in full in this Theme broadcast.
