Stéphanos Thomopoulos

Today we turn our attention to the latest CD by Greek composer Giorgos Koumendakis, recently released on the Viennese Kairos label. It features 22 solo piano pieces written over a period of 32 years, between 1984 and 2016, in which he offers an extensive musical portrayal of Mediterranean flora and fauna. Over the years, Koumendakis gathered these compositions together and grouped them thematically to form the complete cycle as it has now been released.
