Adaweyah is a master of the folk (shaabi) variant of the mawwal, an improvised vocal form full of melancholy and wisdom, told with a play of words and homonyms. As with the American blues of the Jamaican Reggea, A local idiom and use of language and dialect plays a large role in Egyptian folk (shaabi) music.
Notable instruments and instruments are the accordion (played by M. Asfour and Hassan Abou El-Seoud), the beautiful signature trumpet of Samy El-Bably, great percussion team (Darabouka, Riq,mazhar, sagat) led by Hassan Anwar, the violin by Mahmoud El-Gersha & Abdou Dagher, the ney (Arabic flute) by Sayed Abu Sheffa and the (guest) saxophone player Samir Sorour. All among the best players of their era.
