Today we have new releases by Bassekou Kouyaté, Vivalda Dula, Omar Sosa and Yilian Canizares, Samira’s Blues and Lekhfa.

Ngoni player Bassekou Kouyaté released a new album: Miri, of which we just broadcasted the song Deli. The Ngoni is a traditional lute in Mali and Bassekou is the  absolute star on this instrument.

Vivalda Dula is from Angola. She is a versatile artist: singer, percussionist, dancer and songwriter. For her last solo album Dula, she worked together with producer Emilio D. Miler. All the songs are from Vivalda Dula and she is supported by famous international musicians.

Omar Sosa has released a new CD, this time together with singer an multi-instrumentalist Yilian Canizares, titled Aguas. They use electronic drums, a sythesizer and sampled sounds which gives the sparse size an extra layer.

Samira’s Blues has released a nice EP, Ya Baba. We will broadcast three songs of it.
On Friday 18 January at 9 pm she was a guest in the programme Acoustic Roots where she performed live and commented on the music. Acoustic Roots

Lekhfa is an experimental Indie band from Egypt.
The basis of the band consists of: Maryam Saleh vocals, Maurice Louca ud and Tamer Abu Ghazaleh, clarinet. Lekhfa is influenced by Egyptian shaabi, electro-shaabi, pop and psychedelia, and it makes use of the ud, buzuq lute, slide guitars, drums, beat loops and electronics.
