There is French impressionism, German Romanticism, and the the distinctive Italian bel canto. Many countries have their own ways of expressing themselves, which also leads to a stylistic identity. A connoisseur can even name the difference between North German Baroque and French Baroque. Hoe zit dat met Nederland? Is there such a thing as a ‘Dutch’ style, and if yes, what does that entail?
