Dutch jazz: Shirma Rouse
Singer Shirma Rouse. Shirma was born on Curaçao and then lived on Saint Eustatius. Later on, she completed her secondary education on Curaçao. She moved to Rotterdam aged nineteen. She was a much sought-after backing singer for Candy Dulfer, Izaline Calister, Henny Vrienten, Wouter Hamel, Anouk, and others. She was also the lead singer in various bands. In 2010, she released her first solo album titled Chocolate Coated Dreams. The album was followed by Shirma sings Aretha, a tribute to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, and the album Should It Loud. Together with Kim Hoorweg she made the album Dedicated To You.
