The Early Garden

sun 4 nov 2012 15:00 hour

Two hours of browsing through early music. Complex early music by Antonio Zàcara da Teramo and Johann Jakob Forberger.

This time an extensive focus on a special Italian composer from the late 14th, early 15th century: Antonio Zàcara da Teramo.
Fifty years after his death, his compositions were seen as ‘oracles’. In the present, he is seen as one of the most interesting composers of his time. A main characteristic of his work is its high level of complexity: he is part of the musical movement that we call ‘Ars subtilior’.
Works by Antonio Zàcara are alternated with some clavier works by Johann Jakob Froberger.
